Terms and Conditions

Last updated: Wednesday, May 6th 2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of LessonLab AI (“LessonLab”, “we”, “us”, “our”), including all tools, features, applications, and services operated under the LessonLab brand, whether used independently or alongside analytics functionality such as ATLAS (the “Service”).

By accessing or using LessonLab AI, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Who LessonLab Is For

LessonLab AI is intended for use by:

  • Teachers
  • School staff
  • Educational professionals
  • Parents or guardians acting on behalf of students

LessonLab AI is not intended for unsupervised use by children. Where students access LessonLab tools, such access must be authorised and supervised by a responsible adult or educational institution.

2. Nature of the Service (AI-Generated Content)

LessonLab AI provides tools powered by artificial intelligence that generate educational content, including but not limited to lesson materials, reports, feedback, quizzes, summaries, images, and text-based outputs.

All outputs generated by LessonLab AI:

  • Are produced automatically
  • May contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies
  • Are provided for guidance and support purposes only

LessonLab AI does not guarantee that any output is:

  • Factually correct
  • Curriculum-compliant
  • Suitable for a specific learner or context
  • Free from bias or error

3. Teacher Responsibility and Professional Judgement

You acknowledge and agree that:

  • You remain fully responsible for reviewing, editing, validating, and approving all AI-generated content before use
  • LessonLab AI does not replace professional judgement, teaching expertise, or safeguarding responsibilities
  • You must ensure outputs are appropriate for:
    • The age group
    • The curriculum
    • Your school or organisation’s policies
    • Safeguarding, inclusion, and wellbeing requirements

LessonLab AI is a support tool, not a substitute for teaching, assessment, or professional accountability.

4. Interactive and Student-Facing Tools

(Including Study Rooms and Chat With History)

LessonLab AI provides interactive and student-facing tools, including but not limited to Study Rooms and Chat With History (“Interactive Tools”).

These tools are designed for educational use within a supervised learning environment and must be accessed under the authority of a teacher or educational institution.

Where Interactive Tools are used:

  • Access is authorised and supervised by a responsible adult or institution
  • The behaviour, scope, and parameters of the AI are configured by the supervising teacher or institution
  • Students do not interact directly with third-party AI providers and do not accept third-party terms

Some Interactive Tools may involve conversational or roleplay-based AI, including simulated personas of historical or real-world figures. These interactions are fictionalised, conversational representations provided for educational engagement only. They are not factual sources, do not include citations, and must not be relied upon as authoritative historical or biographical accounts.

Interactive Tools are not intended for sensitive, personal, medical, or emotional discussions. Users must not rely on AI responses for personal advice or wellbeing support.

LessonLab AI reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, restrict, suspend, or remove content or access to Interactive Tools where necessary for safeguarding, legal compliance, or service integrity.

Where tools allow the creation of custom AI personas or figures, such use must remain appropriate for an educational context. LessonLab AI reserves the right to restrict or remove figures or content that are unsuitable, offensive, or inconsistent with the intended educational purpose of the Service.

LessonLab AI is not responsible for how outputs are presented to students or how students interpret or use generated content.

5. Analytics and Decision-Support Tools

(Including ATLAS)

LessonLab AI may provide analytics, dashboards, performance summaries, classifications, and data visualisations relating to student progress, attainment, or learning objectives (“Analytics Tools”), including functionality branded as ATLAS.

Analytics Tools are provided to support professional judgement and decision-making only. They do not constitute automated decision-making and must not be relied upon as the sole basis for educational, behavioural, pastoral, or safeguarding decisions.

LessonLab AI does not carry out fully automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Responsibility for interpretation, actions taken, and outcomes based on Analytics Tools remains with the teacher, school, or educational institution.

6. Accounts and Security

To access certain features, you may be required to create an account. You must provide accurate and complete information.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account

You must not:

  • Share account credentials
  • Allow unauthorised users to access your account

LessonLab AI reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts where credential sharing, misuse, or unauthorised access is detected.

7. Data and User Inputs

You confirm that:

  • You have the legal right to submit any data you provide
  • You will not upload content that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes third-party rights
  • You will not upload personal data unless you are legally permitted to do so

You must not input:

  • Highly sensitive personal data
  • Safeguarding records
  • Medical or legal records
  • Confidential information you are not authorised to share

Where LessonLab AI processes student performance or assessment data within Analytics Tools, such processing is governed by our Privacy Policy and any applicable Data Processing Agreement.

8. Saved Content and Storage

LessonLab AI may allow you to save, revisit, or export generated content. We do not guarantee permanent storage of any content unless explicitly stated.

You remain responsible for:

  • Verifying saved content before reuse
  • How outputs are shared or distributed

9. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of your original inputs.

Subject to these Terms:

  • You may use AI-generated outputs for educational and professional purposes
  • LessonLab AI retains all rights to the platform, tools, prompts, systems, and underlying technology

You must not:

  • Resell outputs as a competing service
  • Reverse-engineer the platform
  • Use the Service in a way that harms LessonLab or other users

10. Subscriptions, Access Levels, and Fair Use

Some tools are available only to:

  • Paid subscribers
  • Trial users within defined limits
  • Users with specific permission levels

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.

Trial Accounts (Credit-Based)

New accounts are provided with a trial allowance of credits rather than a fixed time-based trial period. Each AI-powered action consumes a set number of credits from this allowance. The number of credits issued, and the cost of each action, are set by LessonLab AI and may be adjusted at any time at our sole discretion.

When a trial account exhausts its credit allowance:

  • The account is automatically moved to the Free tier
  • No payment is taken and no subscription is started without the user’s explicit action
  • Access to features that require a paid plan will be removed until the user upgrades

Trial credits are non-refundable, have no monetary value, and cannot be transferred between accounts.

We reserve the right to:

  • Enforce usage limits
  • Restrict or suspend access for excessive or abusive use
  • Modify, retire, or restrict tools at any time
  • Adjust credit allowances and per-action credit costs at any time

Abuse of free tiers, trials, or system limits — including creating multiple accounts to extend trial credits — may result in suspension or termination.

11. Payments and Refunds

Subscription fees are billed in advance. Payments are non-refundable except where required by law.

You are responsible for managing your subscription status. Failure to pay may result in loss of access.

12. Availability and Changes

LessonLab AI is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.

We do not guarantee:

  • Continuous availability
  • Error-free operation
  • Compatibility with all devices or browsers

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service may rely on third-party platforms or services. LessonLab AI is not responsible for the availability, performance, or accuracy of any third-party services.

14. Force Majeure

LessonLab AI shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including service outages, third-party failures, or events of force majeure.

15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LessonLab AI, its directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable laws or third-party rights.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • LessonLab AI shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss
  • We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated content or Analytics Tools
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you in the preceding 12 months

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where unlawful to do so.

17. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if:

  • These Terms are breached
  • The Service is misused
  • Required by law or safeguarding concerns

You may stop using LessonLab AI at any time.

18. Amendments to These Terms

LessonLab AI reserves the right to amend, modify, or replace these Terms at any time and at our sole discretion.

Any changes will be effective immediately upon being published on the LessonLab AI website or platform. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically to remain informed of any updates.

Your continued access to or use of the Service following the publication of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must discontinue use of the Service.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
